RANAU, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- Single mother, Rose @ Roslina Daimin, 45, and her four children found relief when they received a Bantuan Mesra Rakyat (BMR) house, a corporate social responsibility (CSR) project by Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB), saving them from their hardships.
"I am deeply touched and grateful for this assistance, especially since my children and I have relied on family members for shelter for the past three years after my husband died.
“I am especially indebted to SESB for their help," she told reporters after receiving the house keys from Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam in Kampung Langsat here today.
Rose shared that following her husband's death, she and her four children have been reliant on the generosity of relatives for both housing and sustenance and to make ends meet, they have turned to gardening and selling agricultural produce as a source of income.
Meanwhile Dr. Joachim, in congratulating Rose, expressed his gratitude to SESB for providing the three-bedroom house with construction costs totaling RM75,000.
“The state government welcomes programmes like this as it aligns with our efforts to ensure the welfare and well-being of the people, especially in rural areas," he said.
Dr. Joachim expressed hope that SESB would increase the number of beneficiaries for this welfare assistance programme next year, adding that this shows SESB's commitment to assisting the government in providing basic infrastructure like residential houses to the impoverished population.
"In line with this, the state government will continue to implement welfare and socio-economic development programmes aimed at assisting the underprivileged and hardcore poor who are already registered in the e-Kasih system," he said.
Also present were Ranau MP Datuk Jonathan Yassin, SESB chairman Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, who is also Tuaran MP and SESB chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Yaakob Jaafar.
