KUANTAN, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- The Kuantan-Segamat highway at Section 102, which has been fully closed since Jan 7 due to a sinkhole, was opened today after work to install the Bailey bridge was completed.
The Public Works Department (JKR) said the two-lane bridge was opened to vehicles with a maximum load of 20 tonnes and a speed limit of 30 kilometres per hour.
"To ensure smooth traffic flow, JKR has provided a comprehensive traffic management plan as a guideline to road users and it is hoped that all motorists will be careful and comply with all the road signs,” it said in a statement today.
On Jan 18, Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said a permanent bridge would be built to replace the Bailey Bridge, with a funding application of RM17 million submitted to the Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Finance.
