PASIR SALAK, July 2 (Bernama) -- The Higher Education Ministry’s (MOHE) Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Outreach Programme in conjunction with the Perak Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia (AKM) roadshow has managed to help a single mother with eight children by conducting vital repairs to their house.
The second child of eight, Ratnawati Roslan, 35, expressed her thanks and gratitude to the ministry for their aid in fixing her mother’s home in Kampung Tersusun, Changkat Lada here, which has been in dire need of maintenance and repairs for the past two years.
“My mom, Milah Ahmad, 57, lives with our youngest, who is 12. All the others are staying elsewhere and can hardly manage to find enough time to come back to our nearly 20-year-old house.
“With the repairs done today, we who live far away can breathe a sigh of relief and not worry with the condition of the house,” she told Bernama.
Meanwhile, MOHE Strategic Planning Division secretary Datuk Shaharuddin Abu (Sohot) said the programme would hopefully help reduce the family’s burden, especially with the rising cost of living.
“This is one of three houses chosen for electrical wiring repairs and house repainting,” he said.
The Perak-level AKM roadshow kicked off yesterday with over 30,000 visitors expected to attend the three-day programme that is taking place at the Dato' Sagor Circuit in Kampung Telok, Kampung Gajah here till Sunday.
