01/07/2022 07:16 PM

KUALA TERENGGANU, July 1 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu state government’s efforts in reviving its economy after the COVID-19 pandemic has shown positive results as it recorded a 3.6 per cent growth in its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) last year, exceeding the 3.1 national GDP growth rate, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

He said the increase from 2020’s rate of -5.7 per cent has exceeded the estimated rate of between 2.0 and 2.2 per cent.

“Indeed, this achievement is the result of various efforts involving many parties that have been implemented over the past year," he said in a statement posted on his Facebook page today.

In addition, Ahmad Samsuri said Terengganu recorded positive results involving several indicators in five focus areas under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) namely people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership.

However, he said the state government was aware of and acknowledged the situation faced by the people due to the current increase in prices of goods, adding that it would continue to prioritise the matter while working together with the federal government to find ways to tackle it.
