Family Hopes Muhammad Syukri’s Organ Donation Gives Others New Hope

26/04/2026 08:31 PM

KUALA TERENGGANU, April 26 (Bernama) -- The family of the late Muhammad Syukri Bazli hopes the decision to donate his organs will bring new hope and a second chance at life to others in need.

His uncle, Azlan Yahya, 58, said the decision was made early this morning with the consent of Muhammad Syukri’s parents and wife, Nurul Hanis Amelia Ramli, 32.

He said the donation was regarded as the final act of kindness by Muhammad Syukri, 31, who was known as a loving and patient man always willing to help others.

“The decision was made by his parents and wife as he was still young and there was an opportunity to save the lives of others.

“He had never spoken about donating his organs, but knowing his character and willingness to help and serve others, the family felt this was the right decision and one that could benefit those in need,” he said when contacted today.

Azlan said Muhammad Syukri, a cook at a restaurant in Kuala Berang near Hulu Terengganu, died from heart complications at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) at about 12.06 am before being taken to the operating theatre for organ retrieval at about 5 am.

The hospital said the organs and tissues donated included the kidneys, liver, bone and skin for patients with severe burns or those undergoing reconstructive surgery.

The father of three children aged between one and six is expected to be laid to rest at the Kampung Peroh Muslim cemetery in Hulu Terengganu after Isyak prayers tonight.

“We will all surely miss him, especially during family gatherings and kenduri, because he was always helpful and very friendly,” said Azlan, who also thanked HSNZ staff for their kindness and efficiency.

The gesture drew attention on social media today after HSNZ staff held a Walk of Honour for Muhammad Syukri in recognition of his organ donation.

The Terengganu Health Department’s Medical Services Division also posted a message of appreciation on its official Facebook page thanking the donor, his family and healthcare workers involved in the transplant process.
