KOTA BHARU, Oct 19 -- The winner of the 58th International Al-Quran Recital and Memorisation Assembly in 2016, Wan Ainuddin Hilmi Abdullah, 39, passed away at 1.26 pm today.
According to his younger brother Datuk Muhammad Abdullah, Wan Ainuddin Hilmi breathed his last at home in Machang possibly due to a heart attack.
He said his brother was survived by a wife and six children.
Funeral prayers would be performed after the Isyak prayers at the Muhammadi Mosque, Kota Bharu, adding that the remains would be laid to rest at the Kampung Banggol Muslim cemetery, he told Bernama today.
Meanwhile, Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob expressed his condolences to Wan Ainuddin Hilmi’s family through a Facebook posting today.
"Condolences to the family members of the late Wan Ainuddin Hilmi Abdullah who passed away this afternoon.
“Allahyarham's passing is a great loss in the teaching of the Al-Quran. May Allah SWT shower him His blessings and may he be placed among the righteous. Al-Fatihah," he said.
