MELAKA, Nov 22 -- Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali has reminded flood evacuees housed at temporary relief centres (PPS) in the state to always comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection.
This includes always wearing a face mask while at PPS, he told reporters after visiting Ayer Molek PPS here, today.
Meanwhile, state Health and Anti-Drug Committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman said that more than 20 healthcare personnel were stationed at PPS in three districts in the state.
Apart from that, he said only food packages certified safe by the state Health Department’s Food Quality and Safety Division will be distributed to the evacuees.
To ensure the safety of the evacuees housed at PPS, toilets at the centre were maintained by the local authorities while sanitation work was regularly carried out by the Melaka Fire and Rescue Department.
According to the Social Welfare Department (JKM) InfoBencana application, the number of flood victims in the state has increased to 416 people (from 128 families) as at 12 noon today, compared to 218 people from 52 families recorded at 9 am.
All 416 evacuees are placed at six PPS in three districts while the weather was expected to be cloudy this afternoon.
