Man Feared Drowned After Going Missing While Looking For Clams In Sungai Pahang

KUANTAN, Sept 19 (Bernama) -- A man is feared to have drowned after going missing while looking for clams with his family along Sungai Pahang near Kampung Bukit Kenau, Pekan this evening.

Peramu Fire and Rescue Station chief Wan Samsul Effendi Wan Mahmud said the victim, Mohd Zainuren Abd Rashid, 45, was reported to have been swept away by currents at around 6 pm while looking for clams with four of his family members.

“Firefighters started searching at 7.13 pm around where he was swept away but failed to find the victim,” he said in a statement today, adding that his family members saw the victim, who was far away, being swept away.

“They tried looking for him around the river area, but also failed to find him,” he said.

The search was postponed at 7.30 pm and will resume tomorrow.
