GUA MUSANG, Nov 5 (Bernama) -- Sixteen people from two families were affected by flash floods that hit two houses in Kampung Kundur, Jalan Kuala Betis, near Tropicana Aquarium in Gua Musang, early this morning.
Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Mohd Shukri Mohamed said fire and rescue personnel were dispatched to the scene following an emergency call at 12.55 am and arrived at 1.10 am.
He said five people, three adult men, an adult woman and a two-month-old baby boy, were in the first house, while the second was occupied by 11 people, comprising an elderly man, nine adult men and an adult woman.
“All 16 people were safe and unhurt, with water levels in their housing area were reported to be rising,” he said in a statement today.
Mohd Shukri said firefighters waded through floodwaters, using personal flotation devices (PFDs) to evacuate residents from the affected area.
