KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 (Bernama) -- A free health screening programme held in conjunction with Bernama’s Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Day 2026 enabled Bernama staff to detect potential health risks early and take appropriate preventive measures.
National Heart Institute (IJN) marketing officer Nur Thuraya Mohd Saifudin said the complimentary basic health screenings included checks on cholesterol and glucose levels, blood pressure and an electrocardiogram (ECG).
“We want to promote greater awareness of early health screening, as taking preventive action is better than waiting until it is too late,” she told Bernama here today.
Bernama staff member Mohd Fazli Rashidi said the free health screening programme should be held annually to allow employees to keep track of their health.
“I believe it is very important for our staff to undergo comprehensive health screenings, particularly as many of us are often too busy to schedule check-ups elsewhere,” he said.
Another staff member, Nur Atierah Nabillah Azian, said the programme gave her an opportunity to undergo screenings for mental health, bone health and cancer.
“Programmes like this should be held more often because they help us take better care of our health and understand our overall well-being,” she said.
Bernama’s 2026 OSH Day also featured a range of activities promoting healthy living, workplace safety and employee well-being, including an aerobics session and briefings on workplace safety and the prevention of cyber and digital fraud.
Staff were also given the opportunity to seek professional advice on health, nutrition, eye care, physiotherapy and financial management from various strategic partners and service providers.
Bernama also collaborated with several strategic partners and healthcare providers to offer health screenings and consultations to staff.
Participating organisations included IJN, Hospital Pusrawi, the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), PMCare, Ikonic Eye Specialist, MySole Solutions, Physiomobile, Fonterra Brands Malaysia (Anlene), Spa Bekam Ar Rayyan, Eltean Incorporated, Farm Fresh Bhd, MBG Fruits Sdn Bhd, the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO), the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Bank Rakyat and the Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK).
The programme, held from 9 am to 5 pm at Wisma Bernama, was part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to foster a workplace culture that prioritises employee health, safety and well-being.
