KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- National boccia athletes Angeline Melissa Lawas and Noor Askuzaimey Mat Salim brought joy to the Malaysian contingent by securing a silver and a bronze medal, respectively, at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games today.

In the women’s BC1 final held at the Nagoya General Gymnasium, Angeline had to settle for silver after a narrow 4-5 defeat to Indonesia’s Handayani, who staged a comeback in the final end to clinch the gold.

Angeline, who delivered a spirited performance, scored points in the second and third ends but was unable to defend her lead as Handayani rallied late in the match.

The bronze medal went to Singapore’s Jeralyn Tan Yee Ting.

Meanwhile, Noor Askuzaimey secured a bronze in the women’s BC4 category after defeating China’s Lin Ximei 6-5 in the bronze-medal match.

The gold and silver medals were won by Hong Kong athletes Vivian Lau and Yuen Cheung, respectively.

However, Avrinda Anis fell short in her bid to add to the nation’s medal tally, narrowly losing 4-5 to South Korea’s Ahyoung Choi in the women’s BC2 bronze-medal match.
