PUTRAJAYA, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- The Human Resources Ministry (KESUMA) is closely monitoring developments and public discussion surrounding the 20th Collective Agreement and Festive Assistance involving the Malayan Commercial Banks Association (MCBA) and the National Union of Bank Employees (NUBE), particularly matters concerning workers’ welfare and industrial harmony.
In a statement today, KESUMA said it respected the rule of law and urged all parties to allow the judicial process to take its course while avoiding speculation or comments that could cause confusion over the case.
KESUMA is also committed to the tripartite approach involving the government, employers and trade unions as the basis for maintaining industrial harmony.
“Therefore, KESUMA, through the Department of Industrial Relations Malaysia (JPPM), will continue to facilitate efforts to keep negotiations open, constructive and mutually respectful,” it said.
The matter has been taken to the Court of Appeal and is scheduled to be heard on March 22, 2027
KESUMA said that as the ministry responsible for labour affairs and industrial relations, it would continue to ensure that the interests of both workers and employers were given balanced consideration.
“The tripartite approach involving the government, employers and trade unions remains an important foundation for ensuring stable and harmonious industrial relations in the country.
“KESUMA remains ready to facilitate efforts by both parties to find a reasonable resolution. The ministry’s objective remains consistent: to help achieve a solution that safeguards workers’ welfare, respects employers’ interests and preserves industrial harmony,” it said.
The ministry said it would also continue to discharge its responsibilities professionally, fairly and impartially to ensure strong relations among workers, trade unions and employers.
The dispute concerns the payment of festive assistance and the 20th Collective Agreement between the two parties.
