PUTRAJAYA, Sept 30 (Bernama) -- The Cabinet has expressed its prayers for the health of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is currently under medical observation at the National Heart Institute (IJN).
Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Cabinet also extended their condolences to Tun Dr Mahathir and his family following the death of his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali.
“The government extends its condolences to Dr Mahathir and his family on the passing of Dr Siti Hasmah. She was a highly respected woman leader and stateswoman.
“The Cabinet also prays for Dr Mahathir’s health as he remains under medical observation at the National Heart Institute,” he told a press conference after the Cabinet meeting here today.
Tun Dr Mahathir’s son, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir, said his father had been admitted to IJN yesterday for observation.
He said his father’s condition was stable and not a cause for concern, adding that the decision to admit his father was made to ensure he received medical attention following the death of his mother.
Tun Dr Siti Hasmah, 100, died at IJN on Sept 28 and was laid to rest at Pusa Negara in Precinct 20 here on the same day, following a state funeral.
