KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 (Bernama) -- Tremors from a weak magnitude 4.4 earthquake that struck the waters off Batu Pahat, Johor, at 4.55 pm today were felt across four states, as well as Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur.
In a Facebook statement, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the tremors were reported in several areas across Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor, as well as surrounding areas.
Earlier, MetMalaysia said the epicentre was located at coordinates 1.7 degrees North and 102.7 degrees East, at a depth of 10 kilometres, about 27 kilometres southwest of Batu Pahat.
MetMalaysia will continue to monitor the situation and has urged anyone who felt the tremors to fill in a questionnaire at https://forms.gle/srRv7tUEPow3Wmts5.
