eKYC Providers Updating Systems For New Generation MyKad - NRD

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- Electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) service providers are updating their systems to recognise the design and features of the new-generation MyKad for identity verification.

The National Registration Department (NRD) said in a statement today that this step was taken after some new-generation MyKad holders faced difficulties performing identity verification via the eKYC system.

NRD said several engagement sessions have been and are being conducted with relevant agencies and eKYC service providers to address the issue and ensure the identity verification process runs smoothly for the public.

"NRD has provided the necessary information and is monitoring the implementation of the updates to expedite the system integration process," the statement read.

While waiting for the update to be completed, NRD advised users facing issues with eKYC verification using the new generation MyKad to consult their institutions or service providers for alternative verification methods.

According to NRD, the new generation MyKad, officially issued on Sept 17, features improvements in structure, design, technology, and security to better protect citizens' identities.

"The adaptation of the eKYC system by service providers is part of the transition process to support the usage of the new card," the statement said.

The department added it will continue to monitor update progress and collaborate with relevant agencies and service providers until the system is fully updated.

"NRD's priority is to ensure the transition to the new generation MyKad is carried out smoothly without compromising public convenience in accessing services requiring identity verification," the statement read.
