MELAKA, Nov 4 (Bernama) -- The National Registration Department (NRD) has introduced various initiatives to make identity documentation services easier, faster and more efficient for the public.
In a Facebook post, the NRD said one of the initiatives was its participation in the Digital Village Programme to help residents update their residential addresses on their MyKad, ensuring that their identification details were accurate and up to date.
“Among the achievements recorded were the registration of 618 traditional villages in Melaka, the distribution of address stickers to 26,711 premises across 187 villages, as at July 2025, and the receipt of 7,295 applications for MyKad address changes from last year until September this year,” the post read.
The NRD said its ‘Menyemai Kasih Rakyat’ (MEKAR) initiative had also expanded its service coverage to reach more people in need.
“This reflects the NRD's continued commitment to ensuring that national registration services remain accessible, convenient and beneficial to all segments of society,” it said.
Meanwhile, the Prisons Department said in a Facebook post that reintegration was not merely about preparing inmates for release, but also an important step towards building confidence, responsibility and positive relationships between inmates and the community.
It said the Prison Inmate Reintegration Programme (PRPP) at the Jasin Correctional Centre continued to strengthen inmates' preparations to readjust to life in the community.
“This commitment is also reflected in various corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes, including gotong-royong activities at the Seri Murni Community-Based Rehabilitation Centre (PPDK), a Quran Appreciation Programme, mushroom cultivation and gotong-royong activities at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tebong.
“These initiatives demonstrate that prisons play a role not only in security and rehabilitation, but also in contributing to community well-being,” the post said.
