Police Family Association Must Continue As Support Network For Pdrm Personnel - IGP

MELAKA, Sept 19 (Bernama) – The Police Family Association (PERKEP) must continue to serve as a support network for Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) personnel, particularly by ensuring that the education of their children and the emotional well-being of their families remain priorities.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said PERKEP was not merely a welfare organisation, but also served as a bridge that united members of the force through a spirit of love, care and solidarity.

“The continued commitment of PERKEP’s leadership in implementing various welfare programmes also helps ease the burden and safeguard the well-being of police personnel’s family members, especially when officers are carrying out duties that demand sacrifices of time, energy and emotions.

“Indeed, the success and resilience of an officer in carrying out their duties do not come about in isolation. Rather, they are driven by the strong support of their families, who constantly pray for them, understand them and serve as the main source of strength behind every step we take,” he said in his speech at the close of the PERKEP Thanksgiving Feast and Family Day, held in conjunction with the 2026 Wira MADANI Tour Programme at the Melaka police contingent headquarters here today.

PERKEP chairman Puan Sri Munirah Che Rose, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid and Melaka Police Chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar were also present at the event.

Meanwhile, Mohd Khalid said the Wira MADANI Tour Programme was one of the initiatives based on the Malaysia MADANI concept to appreciate the dedication of front-line personnel, as well as strengthen ties between government agencies and the community through welfare and community activities.

He said the programme also fostered patriotism and enhanced public safety awareness, thereby helping to build public confidence in the integrity and professionalism of the security forces.

The PERKEP Thanksgiving Feast and Family Day also provided an opportunity for PDRM personnel and their families to spend time together and strengthen their bonds, and expressed hope that it could continue as a platform to strengthen ties between the PDRM leadership, PERKEP members and the wider police family, he added.

Meanwhile, Munirah said in her speech that PERKEP would continue to strengthen welfare, education and family well-being initiatives through various programmes that benefit its members and their families.

She said the efforts were important to ensure that the association remained a caring organisation, close to the hearts of its members, responsive to their needs and always present when needed.

She said PERKEP also launched its official mascot and flag at the programme today, describing the occasion as another milestone in the association’s history. PERKEP also presented RM1,000 cash prizes and certificates of appreciation to each winner of the official mascot and flag design competitions.
