SUNGAI BULOH, Sept 19 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), through the Department of Trade Union Affairs (JHEKS), today reached out to 120 residents of Rumah Kasih Harmoni (RKH), Paya Jaras, here, and 50 asnaf recipients, bringing smiles and joy to their day.
The JHEKS-KESUMA Prihatin Bersama Anak Yatim dan Asnaf programme is part of the ministry’s initiative to ensure the welfare and well-being of the community, particularly in the Sungai Buloh parliamentary constituency, receive due attention.
Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, in his speech when officiating the event, said the ministry’s support extended beyond RKH residents, with various programmes focusing on education, youth development and community welfare also being implemented for the local community.
He said several “Back to School” programmes had been held since 2023 to help ease the financial burden on parents preparing their children for school, in addition to the distribution of 10,000 free bicycles to help children travel to school.
“To me, these efforts are not just about giving financial aid or providing facilities. More importantly, they are about encouraging the children of Sungai Buloh to believe in themselves, chase their dreams, work hard and build a better future,” he said.
RKH residents took part in a range of activities at the programme, including a gotong-royong to clean up their hostel, wall painting, tree planting, as well as fun games and a colouring contest.
Meanwhile, Director-General of Trade Unions Bashah Bachik said the programme was a KESUMA initiative to bring the services of various agencies under the ministry closer to the local community.
For RKH resident Alya Qistina Abdullah, 17, the leaders’ presence and the contributions provided had made the day especially meaningful for the residents.
“I hope programmes like this will continue, as we should always care for one another and help those in need,” she said.
