KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14 (Bernama) -- The National Registration Department (NRD) on Monday handed over 222 identity documents to Malaysians in New Zealand through its outreach initiative, MEKAR Diaspora Programme.
The High Commission of Malaysia in Wellington said the NRD programme, held in collaboration with the high commission, reflected the Malaysian Government’s continued commitment to bringing essential public services closer to Malaysians abroad, while strengthening engagement and service delivery for the Malaysian diaspora.
“...222 documents processed and printed at JPN Putrajaya were presented to applicants. This figure is in addition to documents processed and printed on-site by JPN officers since counter operations commenced on Sept 7 at the High Commission of Malaysia in Wellington,” the high commission said in a statement on Monday.
The handover was officiated by Home Ministry Deputy Secretary-General (Policy and Control) Datuk Makhzan Md Yahuddin, together with NRD Director-General Datuk Badrul Hisham Alias and Malaysia’s High Commissioner to New Zealand Abu Bakar Mamat.
The NRD service counter at the high commission in Wellington will continue operating until Sept 15, providing a range of services, including applications for and replacement of MyKad and MyKid, registry extracts, birth, death, marriage and citizenship certificates, as well as other services relating to identity documentation.
