KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12 (Bernama) -- Three key locations around the city were enlivened today by patriotic songs through the Pentarama Merdeka@HoHo programme, which was held to further boost the National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2026 celebrations.
The three locations -- Dataran Merdeka, Sungei Wang Plaza and Pavilion Bukit Bintang -- drew a crowd of over 4,000 local visitors and foreign tourists. They were treated to energetic performances by cultural artistes and Pentarama musicians aboard the KL Hop-On Hop-Off (KL HOHO) double-decker bus.
Department of Information director-general Erwin Khairul Ahmad said the programme serves as an approach to engage directly with the public, thereby conveying messages of patriotism, togetherness and unity to the community.
"This is not merely a ceremonial programme; we aim to convey the government's aspirations and policies to the public, emphasising that the spirit of patriotism must be instilled in the hearts of Malaysians, regardless of the circumstances," he said here today.
He made these remarks when met by reporters following the Pentarama Merdeka@HoHo programme at Pavilion Bukit Bintang.
Erwin Khairul added that the approach received an unexpectedly enthusiastic response, with members of the public spontaneously joining the activities and waving the Jalur Gemilang together.
