Perhilitan Allocates RM700,000 For MADANI Adopted Village, School In Kampung Basong

KUALA BERANG, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- The government, through the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) of Peninsular Malaysia, has allocated RM700,000 for development projects in Kampung Basong and Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Padang Setebu here, its “MADANI Adopted Village” and “MADANI Adopted School” for this year.

Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup said RM500,000 had been allocated for the development and upgrading of various facilities in Kampung Basong, including repairs to the community hall, drains, surau and cemetery storage shed.

“We are implementing these projects based on the actual needs of the villagers. They are not merely for show, but represent an investment in the safety, comfort and well-being of the residents.

“Kampung Basong also holds a special position as a gateway to the Terengganu National Park area. Therefore, we view the local community as strategic partners who will work with us to raise awareness about preserving our natural treasures while balancing infrastructure needs,” he said.

He told reporters this after the handover ceremony for the MADANI Adopted Village and MADANI Adopted School projects at Dataran Kampung Basong here today.

Arthur said Perhilitan had also allocated RM100,000 for facility upgrades at SK Padang Setebu, including improvements to the canteen and the provision of equipment for the screening room and office, as well as for educational empowerment and welfare programmes.

He said another RM100,000 had been channelled towards strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for the local community.

“This TVET element is being put into practice through electrical wiring works at the surau and storage facility at the Kampung Basong Muslim Cemetery.

“This TVET approach is highly significant as it not only improves physical facilities but also serves as a platform for practical training, skills development and direct community engagement. This is the added value we aim to bring so that local residents can reap long-term benefits,” he said.
