KPTM Marks 23rd Anniversary With Continued Expansion, Global Education Focus

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 (Bernama) -- The establishment of Kolej Poly-Tech MARA Sdn Bhd (KPTMSB), which marks its 23rd anniversary today, reflects the transformation of an educational institution that continues to evolve in line with the changing needs of society, industry and the nation.

KPTMSB chief executive officer Radzuan Razali said the transformation has resulted in the institution now having 34,049 students across seven locations and producing more than 83,000 graduates since its establishment in 2003.

“These figures are not merely statistics. Behind every number are individuals, families and lives transformed through the educational opportunities provided.

“KPTM’s 23-year milestone does not simply measure the organisation’s tenure; rather, it represents part of an educational ecosystem journey that began in 1983,” he said in a statement here today.

He said the expansion from four campuses in its early stages to the current six campuses and a university reflects the changing landscape of education and the job market.

KPTM currently operates six campuses in Bangi, Selangor; Alor Setar, Kedah; Kuantan, Pahang; Ipoh, Perak; Kota Bharu, Kelantan; and Batu Pahat, Johor, in addition to Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) in Kuala Lumpur.

Radzuan said that amid an increasingly competitive higher education landscape, KPTM continued to emphasise the relevance of its academic programmes to future needs, including proficiency in artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

He said curricula and learning approaches must align with industry requirements to ensure graduates possess the skills needed to compete in the global job market.

As such, he said ties with industry players and international academic partners would continue to be strengthened to provide students with broader exposure.

Meanwhile, Radzuan said KPTM planned to strengthen its international education agenda with the opening of its Cyberjaya Campus, which is expected to begin student intake in January next year.

The campus will offer the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Accounting and Finance (BAAF) programme in collaboration with Dublin Business School (DBS), Ireland. The partnership, established in 2013, is now entering a new phase through the implementation of the “Mirror Programme” concept.

He explained that the approach would allow students to pursue an international-standard programme in Malaysia, providing greater choice and flexibility in obtaining a globally oriented education.

Radzuan said the Cyberjaya Campus is also envisioned as a new hub for international programmes, particularly in expanding access to education that provides global exposure while meeting industry demands.

“For KPTM, this is not merely the opening of a new campus. It symbolises the direction we aim to take: being more open to global collaboration, closer to the industry and better prepared to meet the needs of future generations,” he said.
