WCE Holdings Expects Positive Cash Flow, To Breakeven By Fy2030

PETALING JAYA, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- West Coast Expressway (WCE) toll concessionaire, WCE Holdings Bhd expects to achieve positive cash flow and breakeven by financial year 2030 (FY2030).

This follows the full completion of the WCE with the opening of sections 3, 4, and 7 in Selangor, which is targeted for completion by the first quarter (1Q) of 2027.

Its chief executive officer, Lyndon Alfred Felix said the group targets to return to profit by 2032, five years after the full completion of WCE in 2027.

“Eight of the 11 sections have already been completed, with three sections remaining. We expect to see the traffic volume potentially double from the current level following the opening of these three sections.

“Once we achieve that traffic growth, we will have greater visibility on our revenue projections and expect to reach breakeven within five years," he told a press conference after the 25th WCE Holdings Annual General Meeting, here today.

He noted that section 7 would be a crucial link between Perak and Selangor, with its completion expected to position the WCE as a viable alternative for long-haul traffic, particularly during festive and holiday periods.

“Only when section 7 is completed will we start to see significant long-haul traffic coming through the WCE. I think we can then really position ourselves as a good alternative to the North-South Expressway," he said.

In the first quarter ended June 30 (1Q FY2027), WCE Holdings trimmed its net loss to RM24.5 million from -RM25.33 million a year earlier, driven by growth in toll revenue following more operational sections in WCE.

Revenue for the quarter fell 64.25 per cent to RM140.8 million from RM393.8 million previously, mainly due to lower construction revenue as the highway progresses towards completion.

Lyndon noted that the completion of the WCE could spur economic growth in the states it connects, particularly Selangor and Perak, by catalysing new township developments and strengthening their positions as key logistics corridors.

“WCE is in close proximity to major ports, including Port Klang and Lumut Port. We are seeing significant logistics developments taking place, including the Carey Island development and Lumut Port.

“All these developments will eventually rely on the WCE as a critical infrastructure spine, not just for logistics, but also to support economic development along the corridor," he added.
