KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has hailed Bukit Mertajam Hospital’s (HBM) global recognition as a Green Hospital as a proud achievement for Malaysia.
In a social media post, Anwar said the recognition made HBM the only Malaysian hospital among the world’s top 250 for sustainability initiatives.
“This is an achievement that makes the country proud, demonstrating how excellence in healthcare can go hand in hand with environmental responsibility and safeguarding public well-being.
“Congratulations and well done!” he said.
HBM received the recognition under Newsweek and Statista’s World’s Greenest Hospitals 2026 ranking.
The Ministry of Health had earlier said HBM was selected from thousands of hospitals across 36 countries in the inaugural ranking, which recognises healthcare institutions for their commitment to climate-friendly healthcare and environmental sustainability.
