IPOH, June 16 (Bernama) -- Perak has fully recovered from the floods after all 71 evacuees housed at two relief centres were allowed to return home today.
Larut, Matang and Selama District Disaster Management Committee chairman Mohd Nasrul Menhat said the PPS at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Batu Hampar was closed at 2 pm following the return of all evacuees.
“Monitoring and feedback from relevant agencies showed that floodwaters at all affected houses had fully receded and it is safe for the victims to return home,” he said in a statement today.
In a similar development, Manjung District Disaster Management Committee chairman Shamsul Ridzuan Idris said the PPS at SK Beruas was also closed at the same time.
“Joint monitoring by the Irrigation and Drainage Department, Royal Malaysia Police, Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, Malaysian Civil Defence Force and the Mukim Beruas Headman’s Office showed that the situation has returned to normal and is safe,” he said in a statement.
