Number Of Flood Victims In Perak Stays At 92 Tonight

IPOH, June 15 (Bernama) -- The number of flood victims evacuated to temporary evacuation centres (PPS) in Perak remains at 92 people from 33 families as of tonight.

The State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) Secretariat said victims are still sheltering in two PPSs opened in the two affected districts, namely Larut Matang and Selama, as well as Manjung.

“The Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Hampar PPS in Larut Matang and Selama districts remains home to 41 victims from 14 families following the floods involving Kampung Batu 25, Kampung Berjaya, Kampung Batu 23 and Sungai Rotan.

“Meanwhile, the PPS at Sekolah Kebangsaan Beruas in the Manjung district also recorded 51 victims from 19 families, involving flooded areas in Kampung Kilang, Taman Anggerik Permai and Kampung Pulau Kabung,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued a thunderstorm or heavy rain warning in the Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Muallim, Batang Padang and Hilir Perak areas at 6 pm today.
