KLANG, May 14 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) is intensifying digitalisation and technology development programmes among rural entrepreneurs to help them face the challenges posed by the current global supply crisis.
Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang said the approach was implemented to ensure entrepreneurs under the ministry’s agencies, including Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), could enhance productivity, expand markets and adapt their business operations to current technological developments.
“We are increasing digitalisation programmes so that with the new skills acquired, entrepreneurs can not only boost production but also expand their markets,” she said.
She told reporters this after the Wanita Cukup Berani 2026 Programme, a collaboration between KEMAS and Wanita Hari Ini (TV3), at the KEMAS Klang Community Activity Centre (PKM) here today.
Rubiah said apart from training and guidance, KKDW also provides financing assistance to entrepreneurs, including through the Women’s Special Business Financing Scheme (Dana NITA), which allocates about RM90 million under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) and will continue under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).
She said KKDW, through MARA and related agencies, also assists entrepreneurs by providing business premises and factories at lower rental rates, including discounts of up to 20 per cent.
She added that entrepreneurs who had previously received MARA financing could also apply for a loan review based on their current financial capabilities.
“They can return to MARA to review their loans, extend repayment periods and make repayments according to their current financial capacity.
“These measures have been implemented by all agencies under KKDW and have received positive responses from entrepreneurs,” she said.
