Next 30 Hours Most Critical Phase For Global Sumud Flotilla Mission 2026

14/05/2026 11:55 PM

SEPANG, May 14 (Bernama) -- The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2026 mission, carrying nearly 500 international humanitarian activists en route to Gaza waters, has now entered its most critical phase, with the vessels expected to face various risks, including possible interception, within the next 28 to 30 hours.

Sumud Nusantara Command Center (SNCC) director-general Datuk Dr Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby said the window marks the most challenging phase after the mission vessels entered ‘Yellow Zone 3’ shortly after departing Marmaris Port, Turkiye.

He said changes in operational patterns this year have seen the yellow zone designated earlier than last year due to the risk of interception by the Zionist regime.

According to Sani Araby, the journey to Gaza is estimated to take less than four days if no disruptions occur.

“Immediately after leaving Marmaris Port (Turkiye), the vessels have already entered Yellow Zone 3. So we are now in a period of heightened alert in case anything happens,” he said in a press conference here today.

He said based on the current speed of about 12 nautical miles per hour, the flotilla is expected to approach the next zone by tomorrow afternoon (May 15).

In a related development, Sani Araby said a large-scale strategic action plan will be announced tomorrow, involving public mobilisation, advocacy by members of Parliament, strengthening international diplomatic pressure, media solidarity movements, and global legal action to ensure that the blockade and violations of humanitarian rights in Gaza and Palestine are brought to justice.

He said the move is a continuation of the Brussels Declaration, which was joined by several parties, including the Malaysian Parliament Caucus for Palestine.

Sani Araby also called on Malaysians to intensify efforts to disseminate accurate facts and history related to Palestine, and continue performing special prayers and Qunut Nazilah for the safety of the mission delegation.

“SNCC calls on all Malaysians to unite in doubling efforts to spread accurate facts and history, counter the regime’s hostile propaganda, and raise public awareness through all media platforms,” he said.
