KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 (Bernama) -- The government is taking a pragmatic approach with the main focus on ensuring the stability of the country's basic supply needs, protecting the people from extreme cost of living pressures, and strengthening the country's economic resilience in the long term in facing the impact of the global energy supply crisis.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said that for this purpose, targeted assistance, price control, strengthening energy security, and strategic cooperation among the government, industry, and the people have been and are being implemented by the government.
He said it is important for all parties to come together with a spirit of unity, discipline, and the confidence of the people, including all members of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), in supporting the nation's efforts during these global challenges and crises.
Global supply disruptions, geopolitical uncertainties, and rising international logistics costs have caused the prices of food, transportation, and various essential goods to increase in most countries.
"Malaysia is also affected by this situation, but the government remains committed to ensuring the welfare of the people is always a priority in every decision and policy implemented," he said in a Facebook post today.
Earlier, Fadillah, who is also the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, attended the ministry’s 2025 Excellent Service Award (APC) today, which involved 168 recipients.
He also congratulated all the recipients for their contributions, commitment, and consistency in carrying out their duties in the ministry, while emphasising that the event is a manifestation of the government's concern for high-quality, dynamic, and high-performing human capital that excels in meeting the set expectations.
"Make all our continuous efforts as public servants a form of ongoing charity and continuous worship. Be agents of productivity for the ministry and agents of goodness in public service," he also said.
