Taiwan, Malaysia Align On High-Tech And Sustainable Development -- TAITRA

KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 (Bernama) -- Taiwan and Malaysia’s industries are highly complementary, with Taiwan's strengths, namely in semiconductors and information and communication technology (ICT), aligning well with Malaysia's focus on high-tech development, sustainability, and digitalisation.

Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) deputy executive director Keven Cheng said both countries are working together to build a resilient, vertically integrated, and innovation-driven supply chain across the region.

“As the global economy advances into the era of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation, Malaysia is emerging as a dual engine of regional growth — both as a global semiconductor hub and a rising centre for digital infrastructure in Southeast Asia.

“With its strategic location, robust manufacturing ecosystem, and forward-looking digital economy policies, Malaysia plays an increasingly vital role in shaping the region’s technological future,” he said during the soft launch of Taiwan Expo 2025, here today

He noted that Taiwan looks forward to further strengthening this foundation through Taiwan Expo 2025.

“This year’s expo puts a spotlight on AI. We are proud to present many leading AI-related companies from Taiwan, showcasing cutting-edge technologies across a wide range of sectors — including smart manufacturing, Industry 4.0, intelligent healthcare, robotics, digital finance, and energy-saving solutions.

“These innovations offer visitors a glimpse into a future shaped by Taiwan’s technological leadership,” he said.

Taiwan Expo 2025 is set to take place from June 23 to 25 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, bringing together over 200 Taiwanese exhibitors showcasing their products and services. The event will also feature the Taiwan AI Innovation Seminar and a series of engaging activities aimed at fostering new connections and long-term business relationships.

Themed “Innovative Solutions for a Better Life”, this year marks the 8th edition of the expo since its launch in 2017.

“The Taiwan Expo in Malaysia has attracted over 1,200 Taiwanese companies since its inception. This annual event has been highly successful, drawing approximately 160,000 visitors and generating more than US$400 million in business opportunities,” Cheng added.
