INDONESIA

1.PRABOWO SAYS INDONESIA REMAINS OPEN TO FOREIGN INVESTORS -- ANTARA

President Prabowo Subianto dismissed claims that his administration is hostile to foreign investors, saying Indonesia remains open to international capital and is seeing strong investment interest across sectors.

 

2.INDONESIA PLANS NATIONAL CAR HUB WITH 300,000-VEHICLE CAPACITY -- ANTARA

 Indonesia's Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin on Wednesday reviewed progress on the National Car Project, which aims to develop an automotive manufacturing hub with a targeted production capacity of 300,000 vehicles a year.

 

LAOS

1.ILLEGAL GOLD MINING EXPOSED -- VIENTIANE TIMES

Authorities uncovered an illegal gold-mining operation along the Nammo River in Xaysomboun province. The company operating a stone-and-sand crushing facility had allegedly engaged in gold mining without authorisation.

 

2.IMPROVING MEDICAL WASTE MANAGEMENT -- VIENTIANE TIMES

Xiengkhouang province launches US$560,000 (RM2.3 million) healthcare waste management project to strengthen public health safeguards and environmental protection. The project will reduce risks linked to the open burning of medical waste.

 

MYANMAR

1.RISING FOREIGN INVESTMENTS INTO THE COUNTRY -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

Foreign Investment under public-private partnerships has reached US$7.3 billion (RM30 billion) from 36 enterprises this year. In addition, 22 companies at Thilawa Port have obtained permits to operate businesses.

 

 2.INDIA DONATES EARTHQUAKE EQUIPMENT -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

India donated earthquake assessment equipment to Myanmar engineers in Yangon  yesterday. They included seismometers, concrete penetration testers, thermal imaging cameras and structural health monitoring equipment.

1.ADILI’S FAMILY REQUESTS AUTOPSY BEFORE REPATRIATION – NIGERIA EMBASSY- PHILIPPINE NEWS AGENCY

The family of Divine Adili, one of the two Ateneo student-athletes who died from drowning in Aurora province, has requested an autopsy before the repatriation of his remains, the Nigerian Embassy in Manila disclosed.

The proportion of consumers with no plans to buy a home within five years has risen sharply to 56%, from 47% a year earlier, marking the highest level in four years as concerns about the economy weigh on purchasing decisions.

The Department of Customs said state revenue  generated from import-export activities reached US$8.2 billion (RM33 billion) in the first five months of this year. It rose by 17 per cent year-on-year.

Da Nang City will conduct health screening and a periodic health check-up for all residents across the city on July 1. This is to enhance public health care and promote preventive medicine.
