Foreign Missions In Malaysia Congratulate Bernama On Its 59th Anniversary

KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 (Bernama) -- Foreign heads of mission to Malaysia have extended their heartiest congratulations to Bernama on its 59th anniversary, commending the national news agency for its commitment to credible and timely reporting as well as its enduring role in shaping the country’s media landscape.

Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia Noriyuki Shikata hailed the news agency as a trusted leader in news since its establishment. 

He said Bernama has continuously play a positive role in contributing towards a closer Malaysia-Japan relations.

“Sending our brightest and warmest congratulations from the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia to Bernama on its 59th anniversary! Bernama has been a fantastic, trusted leader in news.

“We are incredibly thankful for your wonderful support in bringing Japan and Malaysia closer together. Wishing Bernama a magnificent celebration and continued success for the future," he said.

Also extending his congratulations was Italian Ambassador to Malaysia Raffaele Langella, who described the 59th year milestone as a testament to Bernama’s importance in the country's information ecosystem.

“For nearly six decades, Bernama has played an important role in delivering reliable and timely news, contributing significantly to public understanding and to the strengthening of Malaysia’s media landscape. 

“May Bernama continue to uphold excellence in journalism and achieve even greater success in the years ahead,” Langella said.

Meanwhile, British High Commissioner to Malaysia Ajay Sharma CMG underscored the agency’s crucial function in maintaining public access to transparent information.

“Many congratulations to the national news agency Bernama on its 59th anniversary. It has a critical role in ensuring Malaysians have access to news and information,” he noted.

Established under the BERNAMA Act 1967, Bernama commenced operations on May 20, 1968, and has continue to evolve with the dynamic media landscape into Malaysia’s leading multi-platform news agency, delivering trusted news and connecting the nation with the world.
