HYDERABAD, May 19 (Bernama) -- The Indian rupee on Tuesday plunged to a fresh record low, maintaining its losing streak against the US dollar.
The rupee is under pressure from the West Asia war's adverse impact on the Indian economy.
It closed at 96.53 on Tuesday after reaching 96.61 per dollar during intraday trading.
Its previous closing record low was 96.34 on Monday.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently asked people to conserve foreign exchange by cutting down fuel consumption and shunning gold purchases and overseas travel.
