ANKARA, April 27 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- The US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) said late Sunday that a vessel linked to narco-trafficking was targeted in a strike in the Eastern Pacific, resulting in three fatalities, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported.
The operation was carried out on April 26 under the direction of SOUTHCOM Commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, the command said on the US social media company X’s platform.
It said Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a “lethal kinetic strike” on a vessel operated by designated terrorist organisations.
According to the statement, intelligence confirmed the vessel was moving along known narco-trafficking routes and was “engaged in narco-trafficking operations.”
“Three male narco-terrorists were killed during this action,” the command said.
It added that no US military personnel were harmed during the operation.
No further details were provided regarding the location, the identity of those involved, or the type of vessel targeted.
