HYDERABAD, April 24 (Bernama) -- Pakistan has returned another US$1 billion deposit to Abu Dhabi, completing the repayment of total deposits amounting to US$3.45 billion to the Gulf emirate this month.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Friday that the US$1 billion deposit was repaid to Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) on Thursday, while US$2.45 billion was repaid last week.
Abu Dhabi had provided the interest-bearing deposit to support Pakistan's balance of payments and had rolled it over each year, but the extensions have recently become short-term.
Pakistan's total liquid foreign reserves stood at US$20.63 billion on April 17.
