Jordan Intercepts 108 Iranian Missiles, Drones Over Past Week

08/03/2026 12:31 AM

AMMAN, March 7 (Bernama-BNA) -- The Jordan Armed Forces announced that air defence systems, in cooperation with other countries, intercepted and destroyed 108 Iranian missiles and drones out of 119 aerial targets directed toward the Kingdom’s territory over the past week, resulting in 19 minor injuries caused by falling shrapnel, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

Jordan Armed Forces spokesperson Brigadier General Mustafa Al Hiyari said the attacks included 60 missiles and 59 drones targeting vital sites inside Jordan, noting that air defence systems did not intercept 11 targets.

Brigadier General Al Hiyari reiterated that Jordan’s territory will not be used as an arena for settling scores or expanding conflicts, and rejected claims that attacks were launched from the Kingdom toward neighbouring countries.

He added that all formations and border units have been placed on immediate alert and that defence cooperation agreements have been activated to provide air cover to protect Jordan’s airspace amid the regional escalation between the United States and Iran.

Public Security Directorate spokesperson Colonel Amer Al Sartawi said civil defence and police teams responded to 187 reports of falling objects and shrapnel across several governorates, noting that the damage was limited to material losses and urging the public to avoid approaching suspicious objects and rely on official sources for information.
