PHNOM PENH, March 4 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet assured on Wednesday that the Southeast Asian country will eradicate online scam centres by April this year, reported Xinhua.
He made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the Cambodia-ASEAN Business Summit 2026 in Phnom Penh on Wednesday, saying that the move aimed to reinforce the rule of law and further safeguard the integrity of the investment climate.
"We have worked deliberately to create a secure and predictable operating environment that minimises jurisdictional risk, enhances confidence of businesses and investment, increases competitiveness, and ensures long term business continuity," he said.
The Southeast Asian country has launched an unprecedented nationwide crackdown on cyber scam networks to maintain social security, safety, and public order, and to restore the kingdom's image on the international stage.
Interior Minister Sar Sokha said last week that Cambodia had deported more than 30,000 suspected foreign scammers, while over 210,000 others voluntarily left the kingdom following intensified operations against online scams since June last year.
