ISTANBUL, March 1 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- Four staff members were injured following an “incident” at Dubai International Airport early Sunday, according to a statement by the Dubai Media Office, Anadolu Ajansi reported.

In a post on X, the office said that Dubai Airports confirmed that a concourse at Dubai International (DXB) sustained minor damage in the incident, which was “quickly contained.”

Emergency response teams were immediately deployed and are managing the situation in coordination with relevant authorities, the statement said.

The four injured staff members received prompt medical attention.

The statement added that, due to contingency plans already in place, most terminals had been previously cleared of passengers.

Further updates will be provided as they become available, officials said.

No further details were provided about the nature of the incident. However, Arab media outlets and widely circulated videos showed scenes of damage to a building at the airport following a missile strike.

Earlier Saturday, the United Arab Emirates announced that it had been subjected to Iranian attacks targeting several areas in the country, particularly the capital Abu Dhabi, resulting in the death of one resident.

On Saturday morning, the US and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran, claiming it was meant to remove “threats” posed by the Iranian “regime.” In response, Iran targeted Israel and the US bases in the region with missiles and drones.

Israel declared a “special and immediate state of emergency” nationwide.

Iran, for its part, vowed a “harsh response” to aggression and launched missile barrages and drones toward Israel and US bases in the region.
