Indonesia Boosts Digital Cooperation With Saudi Arabia For Haj, Umrah

JAKARTA, Feb 17 (Bernama) -- Indonesia has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthen digital integration with Saudi Arabia to enhance the safety and efficiency of Haj and Umrah services.

Its Haj and Umrah Minister, Moch Irfan Yusuf, said the effort would cover visa processing, accommodation management, healthcare services and pilgrim monitoring systems.

“Indonesia expressed full support for the modernisation of Haj and Umrah services in line with Saudi Vision 2030.” 

“One of the main technical focuses is strengthening data connectivity with Saudi systems, including optimising the Nusuk Masar platform for hotel contracts and pilgrim service management,” he said in a statement, on Tuesday.

Speaking at the Saudi-Indonesian Umrah Co.Exchange forum in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, Moch Irfan said Indonesia views seamless digital coordination with Saudi authorities as critical to safeguarding the interests of millions of its citizens performing the pilgrimage annually.

He said Indonesia had also proposed greater flexibility in the mechanism for replacing visas of pilgrims who cancel their departure, to prevent allocated quotas from being forfeited.

“Every quota is the right of the ummah. We hope there will be a flexible mechanism up to close to the departure date, so that slots are not wasted,” he said.

He also expressed hope that the system integration could accelerate administrative processes, strengthen oversight and improve emergency response coordination between the two countries, forming an important foundation towards more modern, transparent and pilgrim-oriented governance of Haj and Umrah.
