MOSCOW, Jan 19 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- The European Union reduced its purchases of Russian oil in November 2025 to a historic low of 127.5 million euros (US$148.2 million), reported RIA Novosti citing Eurostat data.

European companies reduced their oil imports from Russia by about 60 per cent month-on-month, to 127.469 million euros. This is the lowest monthly purchase volume the EU has ever seen; the agency's data has been available since 1988.

Moreover, in January-November, Russian oil supplies to the EU totalled 3.8 billion euros, down from 5.8 billion euros in the same period last year.

The Czech Republic reduced its Russian oil purchases the most among EU member states in January-November — by 78 per cent to 288.3 million euros. Meanwhile, Germany and the Netherlands completely ceased their purchases of Russian oil after buying 6.9 million euros and 580.8 million euros worth of Russian oil in January-November 2024, respectively.

Slovakia was the only EU country to increase its imports of Russian oil by 6.7 per cent to 1.9 billion euros in January-November 2025.
