WASHINGTON, Dec 11 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- The US has expelled 600,000 illegal immigrants and another 1.9 million have left on their own since US President Donald Trump's administration came to power, the Department of Homeland Security said, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

"BREAKING: 600k illegals have been deported from the interior of our country in less than 365 days, with another 1.9 million self-deporting, totaling over 2.5 million illegals gone. A monumental achievement! We are just getting started," the department said in a statement on X on Wednesday.

Trump pledged in his inauguration speech to stop the penetration of undocumented migrants into the US and begin deporting millions of them back to their countries of origin.

Trump also declared a national state of emergency in response to the crisis on the southern border.
