KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 (Bernama) -- The Fifth Saudi Hajj Conference and Exhibition, held at the ‘Jeddah Super Dome’ from November 9 to 12, concluded after four days of extensive participation from government entities and the private sector, finalising contracts for more than one million pilgrims.
The Fifth Hajj Conference and Exhibition aims to ensure a safe and seamless Hajj season, provide an exceptional experience for pilgrims, and establish a sustainable operational framework aligned with the Kingdom’s vision to enhance service quality and improve the overall Hajj and Umrah experience.
The event brought together around 300 government and private sector entities, welcoming over 160,000 visitors and delegations from more than 150 countries. It served as a platform for sharing expertise on Hajj organisation and services for pilgrims and visitors.
The Malaysian delegation was represented by the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar.
Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, described the achievement as “historic and unprecedented,” noting that it was accomplished six months ahead of the upcoming pilgrimage season. He said that this milestone reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and efficiently organised Hajj season.
Dr Al-Rabiah also highlighted the strong presence of government agencies at the exhibition, noting that attendance surpassed 160,000 visitors—an increase of 33 per cent compared to last year.
“Ministry of Hajj and Umrah signed agreements with 77 countries to organise Hajj for their citizens, while the private sector concluded nearly three thousand contracts with Hajj operators worldwide,” he said in a statement issued by the conference on Thursday.
Dr Al-Rabiah added that the Umrah and Ziyarah Forum is scheduled to be held in Madinah in January next year to strengthen expertise and expand international collaboration in Hajj and Umrah services.
The forum featured diverse offerings, including transportation, accommodation, healthcare and guidance services.
