11/10/2025 12:37 AM

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- Nine Malaysian activists who participated in the Freedom Flotilla Coalition and Thousand Madleens to Gaza (FFC x TMTG) mission are expected to return home on Sunday, following their release from Israeli detention.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said in a Facebook post tonight that all the activists, who were previously detained by the Zionist regime, had arrived in Istanbul earlier today.

“They will depart for home on Turkish Airlines flight TK60 from Istanbul at 1.40 am on Sunday and are expected to arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 5.05 pm, insya-Allah,” he said.

Earlier, the Foreign Ministry confirmed in a statement that all of them had been transferred out of Israel on Turkish Airlines flight TK6921 and arrived in Istanbul at 2.30 pm local time (7.30 pm Malaysian time).

Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCARE) said all nine Malaysian activists who were abducted by the Zionist regime in international waters while taking part in the FFC x TMTG mission had been released.

MyCARE expressed its gratitude to the Turkish government and the Malaysian government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for their efforts in securing the activists’ release.

“They went carrying a million hopes. Although they did not reach Gaza, insya-Allah, the spirit they bring home will sow the seeds of a greater struggle.

“The struggle will continue. Plans for the next voyage will continue until the blockade on Gaza is broken and Palestine is free,” it said.

The FFC x TMTG humanitarian mission involved about 150 activists from 25 countries on board nine vessels, including the Conscience and Umm Saad, which were intercepted by Zionist forces less than 120 nautical miles from Gaza last Wednesday. They were taken to Ashdod Port and later transferred to Ketziot Prison in Negev, Israel.

The eight Malaysians aboard the Conscience were Malaysian delegation head Prof Emeritus Dr Mohd Alauddin, Dr Fauziah Mohd Hassan, Dr Hafiz Sulaiman, Dr Ili Syakira Mohd Suhaimi, Prof Dr Mohd Afandi Salleh, Dr Noorhasyimah Ismail, Norsham Abu Bakar and Astro Awani journalist Syafik Shukri Abdul Jalil, while another doctor, Dr Maziah Muhammad, was on board the Umm Saad.
