LAOS 

 

1.WOMEN SUPPORT FOR NATION BUILDING -- VIENTIANE TIMES 

The Lao government is encouraging women to play a more significant role in nation-building, as they make substantial contributions to society. Local women continue to shine in the political arena, civil service and academia, competing with their male counterparts. 

 

2.OUDOMXAY SOLAR FARM TO POWER LAO -- VIENTIANE TIMES

The 2,000-hectare solar power farm in Oudomxay province is expected to generate electricity by year-end as 50 per cent of work is completed.  It has a capacity of 1,000 megawatts and expected to generate 1,700 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually.

1.INDIA-MYANMAR HOST BLUE HELMET TRAINING -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

The UN Peacekeeping Officer Course, jointly organised by Myanmar and the Indian Armed Forces, began in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday. The Blue Helmet training provides insights into their duties and functions while on UN Peacekeeping missions.

 

2.FISH PONDS SAFE DESPITE BAD WEATHER -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

Fish ponds in major breeding areas in Yangon and Ayeyarwady are safe from floods despite the prevailing bad weather in July. Authorities have been warning farmers if the water level rises to prevent fish ponds from being submerged due to flooding.

Boat tours in An Giang province have been suspended due to Typhoon Wipha. Some coastal areas have been experiencing heavy rain since the weekend. An Giang received 14.2 million tourists so far this year, including 900,000 foreigners.
