MAKKAH, June 2 (Bernama-SPA) -- The Saudi Red Crescent Authority has enhanced its readiness in Makkah to provide high-quality ambulance services to pilgrims, as part of its preparations for the 1446 AH Hajj season.

According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the authority has deployed more than 120 ambulance units operating around the clock and added over 100 support vehicles in Makkah.

These include 80 ambulance units distributed across key areas: 45 in the northeast and west, 15 in the south, and 20 in the central area.

Participating units include more than 160 emergency medical technicians, supported by over 100 ambulances, 12 motorised emergency vehicles, and three golf carts outfitted with emergency medical equipment to serve as portable ambulances in areas with limited access. These assets ensure full preparedness for potential disasters and crises.

At the Grand Mosque, over 30 emergency units have been deployed. They include seven teams stationed in the Masa’a and Saudi Corridor, eight teams in the Masa’a and eastern courtyards, 10 teams in the western and southern courtyards, and two teams in the third Saudi expansion.

These units are staffed by more than 60 paramedics and supported by 16 medical golf carts, ensuring rapid response to emergencies in high-density areas.

These efforts are part of a coordinated system involving various government entities aimed at improving medical transport safety and ensuring optimal services for pilgrims.

Supporting these operations are over 550 male and female volunteers from the authority's teams, distributed across more than 200 units operating around the clock. These teams specialise in emergency medical support and provide assistance in all high-traffic areas.
