JAKARTA, April 27 (Bernama) -- A ferry malfunction caused by electrical issues resulted in a collision between two wooden cargo ships at the Port of Bajoe in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi, Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 1.30 pm local time as the ferry KMP Mishima was preparing to depart for the Port of Kolaka in Southeast Sulawesi, carrying 174 passengers and vehicles.

According to local news outlet Berita Satu, the ferry lost control and struck the docked wooden ships. Fortunately, there were no casualties and all passengers were safely transferred to another ferry.

The collision caused significant damage to the wooden ships, with one experiencing cracks in both its bow and amidships, it stated.

Asnur Aini, the manager of KMP Mishima, has pledged to take full responsibility and compensate the two affected ships, although the extent of the damage is still being assessed.

An amateur video captured by a local resident documented the dramatic incident, quickly gaining attention on social media.
