20/04/2024 01:41 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 (Bernama) -- As part of a new cultural exchange initiative aimed at enhancing diversity and cultural awareness, a handover ceremony of books was held at the National Library of Namibia, officially marking the collaboration between Malaysia and Namibia.

The acting High Commissioner of Malaysia, Mohamad Rameez Yahaya, presented 30 books to the library, initiating an annual exchange of literature between the two countries, said the commission in a WhatsApp message shared with Bernama recently.

This partnership is designed to foster a greater understanding and appreciation of the rich and diverse cultures that characterise both nations.

The selection of books donated by Malaysia includes works of fiction, cultural studies and history, reflecting the diverse tapestry of Malaysian society.

Malaysia and Namibia have had diplomatic relations since 1996, when the Malaysian High Commission in Windhoek and the Namibian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur were established.
