National Gymnast, Track Cyclist Crowned Terengganu Sportsman And Sportswoman Of The Year

KUALA TERENGGANU, April 28 (Bernama) -- National male gymnast Muhammad Sharul Aimy Kamaru Hisam and national cyclist Nur Aisyah Mohamad Zubir were respectively crowned as Terengganu Sportsman and Sportswoman at the 2024/2025 Terengganu Sports Awards Ceremony held last night.

The victory saw each of them taking home RM7,000 in cash, a challenge trophy, an accompanying trophy, a pair of blazers and a certificate of merit.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said Muhammad Sharul Aimy's selection was based on his outstanding achievements, including winning a gold medal and a bronze medal at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, a bronze medal at the 2024 Asian Championship and participating in the 2025 World Championship.

"Meanwhile, Nur Aisyah was selected after winning a gold medal and two silver medals at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, a bronze medal at the 2025 Asian Track and two silver medals at the 2025 Asia Cycling Championship Road," he said in his speech at the ceremony.

Muhammad Sharul Aimy said the award was very meaningful and would be a source of encouragement for him to continue his excellence in the future.

Nur Aisyah shared a similar reaction, describing the award as a motivational boost to continue working to bring glory to the state and country in the future.

At the same ceremony, track and field athlete Mohamad Armin Zahryl Abdul Latif was announced as the Sportsman of Hope, while weightlifter Siti Aqilah Farhana Draman won the title of Sportswoman of Hope, taking home a cash prize of RM2,500, a trophy and a certificate of merit.

In addition, national para cyclist Zuhairie Ahmad Tarmizi and table tennis athlete Nurul Nasuha Mohd Anuar each received a cash prize of RM3,000, a trophy and a certificate of merit after being named as the Para Sportsman and Para Sportswoman.

The prizes were presented by Ahmad Samsuri who was accompanied by Terengganu Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisation Development Committee chairman Hishamuddin Abdul Karim. Also present was Terengganu State Sports Council (MSNT) director Mohd Shahrizal Yahaya.
