KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6 (Bernama) -- National male shot putter Jonah Chang Rigan received a big boost to his morale ahead of his participation in the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand after successfully renewing his national record today.

In the 2025 Malaysian Educational Institutions’ Games (SIPMA) in Johor Bahru, the 22-year-old athlete representing the University Sports Council of Malaysia (MASUM) threw 18.66 metres (m), thus erasing the record of 18.46m set at the Pahang Open Athletics Super Series Championship last year.

The throw edged out Earl Isaac Mitzler Fredolin who represented the Malaysian School Sports Council (MSSM) in second place with a throw of 15.39, while Nathanial Majid also representing MASUM (15.14m) in third place.

Jonah, who has previously confirmed his ticket to the 2025 SEA Games, is aiming to bring home a medal for the country.
