KANGAR, Aug 30 (Bernama) -- Sabah’s Siti Norjahera Beliamor stole the limelight at the 2025 Malaysian Open Athletics Championship after finishing second in the women’s 200 metres (m) sprint at Tuanku Syed Putra Stadium here today.

The sixteen-year old Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Batu Sapi student finished the race with a time of 25.54 seconds (s) behind national sprinter Zaidatul Husniah Zulkifli, who won the race with a time of 24.57 s representing Kedah, while Negeri Sembilan’s Adriana Shahryll Nizam was third (26.09s).

“I’m proud that I could run and competed with the best national runner (Zaidatul Husniah), what more this is my first time going up against such a senior athlete, I had fun.

“Even though I didn’t have that much rest after the MSSM meet, the continuous momentum of training helped me maintain my performance today. With enough rest I could do better, but I’m satisfied as I finished close behind Kak Zaidatul, who is my idol since young,” Siti Norjahera told reporters after the race.

A total of 658 athletes from 19 teams within the country and 10 foreign countries, including Algeria, China, Japan, Nepal, Thailand, Sri Lanka and the Phillipines are participating in the athletics meet.
